Building a charcoal briquettes factory in Russia

The customer is a young man from Russia, come to visit our company on behalf of his father. He plan to build a factory to make charcoal briquettes in Russia, so come to China to visit several manufactures this time. We discussed a lot about raw materials, cost of investment, production process, etc. especially the differences between Carbonizing – Briquetting and Briquetting – Carbonizing. He was very appreciated for the experience about Briquetting & Carbonizing industry we shared with each other. Really a productive journey, he said.

Building a charcoal briquettes factory in Russia

Creating a charcoal briquette factory in Russia is a business with great profit potential. Russia has abundant raw material resources, and its vast market also has a great demand for charcoal briquettes. Coupled with many factors such as local relevant industrial policies, it is possible to reap considerable profits by developing charcoal briquettes production business here.

Demand for charcoal briquettes in Russia

  • Russians love outdoor barbecues, family outdoor gatherings, picnics, etc. Charcoal briquettes are often used as barbecue charcoal;
  • Russian winters are long and cold. In some more remote areas, such as some old houses or areas not covered by central heating, charcoal briquettes are a rigid demand.
  • Russia has a developed metallurgical industry. Charcoal briquettes can be used as a reducing agent to participate in metal smelting, especially in some small metallurgical processing plants or enterprises that have a demand for special metal smelting. There is a great demand for charcoal briquettes. With the development of the metallurgical industry and the advancement of technology, the demand for high-quality charcoal briquettes will increase.

What wood species are suitable for making charcoal briquettes in Russia?

Russia is rich in wood resources, and there are many wood species suitable for making charcoal briquettes, and they are suitable for making high-quality charcoal briquettes.

Russian larch
Russian larch

Larch is a dominant tree species in Russia. The wood is shiny and has a rosin smell. The charcoal briquettes made from it have high calorific value, long burning time, and can provide lasting and stable heat. It is more suitable for industrial smelting, long-term outdoor heating, and high-quality barbecue.

Russian Scotch Pine
Russian Scotch Pine

Scotch pine is an important timber species grown under cold temperate climate conditions. It has excellent material quality and properties close to red pine. It is easy to ignite and burns relatively quickly. The ash produced after burning is less, which is suitable for use in some occasions where quick fire is required, such as temporary outdoor camping.

Russian spruce
Russian spruce

Charcoal briquettes made of spruce wood have a relatively loose texture and more pores. They have a large contact area with the air during combustion, burn more fully, and produce less odor during the combustion process. The pollution to the environment is relatively light, which is suitable for indoor heating and some barbecue occasions with high requirements for odor.

Russian birch
Russian birch

Birch has a dense and straight texture, and the charcoal briquettes made of it have good combustion performance, stable flames, and relatively uniform heat release, making them suitable for home barbecues and indoor heating. In addition, the charcoal briquettes made of birch have a relatively beautiful appearance, a smooth surface, and a uniform texture.

Russian oak
Russian oak

Oak wood is hard, and the charcoal briquettes made of it have a high density, high calorific value, a long burning time, and can withstand high temperatures. They are widely used in industrial production, such as metallurgy and chemical industry.

Russian ash
Russian ash

Ash wood is slightly heavy and hard. Ash charcoal briquettes can generate higher temperatures when burning, with stable heat output, less ash after burning, and high cleanliness. Charcoal briquettes made of ash wood perform well in compressive strength and wear resistance.

Equipment for making charcoal briquettes in Russia

Common equipment for a charcoal briquettes production line includes: Crusher == Dryer == (Rod Making Machine) Briquette Press == Carbonization Furnace

  • Crusher: Used to crush the collected large pieces of raw materials, such as wood scraps, large pieces of coal, etc., into smaller particles or powder for subsequent processing.
  • Dryer: Dry the crushed raw materials to reduce the moisture content of the raw materials to 8%-12% for better subsequent molding and carbonization.
  • Mixer: If charcoal briquettes are to be made, the dried charcoal powder, coal powder, adhesive, etc. need to be fully stirred and mixed to make the materials evenly distributed to ensure the quality of the briquettes after molding.
  • Ball Press or Rod Making Machine: Press the stirred materials into briquettes or charcoal sticks of the desired shape. Common shapes include cylindrical, square, hexagonal, etc.
  • Carbonization furnace: The formed charcoal sticks are placed in the carbonization furnace for carbonization treatment. In an oxygen-deficient or low-oxygen environment, the wood and other raw materials are pyrolyzed by heating and converted into charcoal to obtain high-quality charcoal products.

When making charcoal briquettes, carbonization-briquetting is to first carbonize the raw materials, convert them into charcoal, and then crush them and add adhesives to briquette; while briquetting-carbonization is to first crush the raw materials, add adhesives and press them into briquettes before carbonization. The two are completely different in process sequence. How to choose depends on your raw materials, costs, output and the purpose of the finished charcoal briquettes.
